Basic Nail Care Tips.

5 February 2011

So lovely ladies of the world, I thought I would just make sure you know how to take care of your beautiful fingertips! After all, everyone deserves pretty nails :-)

  1. Keep your nails dry. Repeated or prolonged contact with water can contribute to split fingernails. Wear cotton-lined rubber gloves when washing dishes, cleaning or using harsh chemicals, and avoid long soaks in the tub.
  2. Practice good nail hygiene. Keep your nails neatly trimmed, and round the tips in a gentle curve. Rub moisturizing lotion into your nails after washing your hands and after removing nail polish.
  3. Avoid harsh nail care products. Limit manicures. Between visits, touch up nail polish as needed — don't remove it. If you must use nail polish remover, avoid those that contain acetone.
  4. Repair split fingernails quickly. Repair splits or tears with nail glue or clear polish to keep the problem from getting worse.
  5. Keep Moist. Moisturize nail beds regularly with a nondrying nail lotion. Rub the lotion over the entire nail bed at least once a day.
  6. Keep Tidy.Clip your nails regularly in a rounded or squared shape. The pointier the tip of your fingernail, the more likely it is to break off.
  7. Just be healthy in general. The best care you can give your fingernails is to have a healthy body overall. Eat raw fruits and vegetables, and keep your diet rich in foods with silicon and calcium, such as carrots, milk and fish. Consider taking dietry supplements such as vitamin E and other oils to keep your fingernails strong and healthy. Regular aerobic exercise keeps the blood flowing freely to all parts of the bodies, including the fingernails, thus giving them the nutrients they need.

Just keep healthy ladies, thats the main thing.

OPI Dupe!

5th February 2011

As you may have seen on any beauty website/forum/youtube channel Katy Perry has teamed up with OPI to create a nail polish line. It consists of 4 gorgous colours and one interesting new branch - the black shatter effect.

One of the most gorgous colours is Teenage Dream. Named after her hit album of course! The colour is a beautiful light pink, filled with glitter and sparkles. As nice as the colour is I'm extremely reluctant to pay the £8-9 asked for it.

After browsing on the OPI website and seeing Teenage Dream something clicked and I realised that it is a dead ringer for Rimmel 60 Seconds in Starlet. I painted it on my nails then googled some swatches of Teenage Dream and found they are extremely similar. At £3.69 its a bargain, definatly one to invest in!

Also, Barry M has a Black Shatter effect out now aswell. I'm yet to buy this one but its definatly one to watch!

An Apology

5th February 2011

Sorry, I know I haven't posted in a couple of days but I have a genuine excuse okay! Well, I live in Scotland and anyone living in the UK may have seen on the news that the North of Scotland is experiancing severly bad weather.

It started early in the week with heavy hail, thunder and lighting, torrential rain and severe winds. By Thursday it reached its peak, 90mph winds... On Wednesday night the electricity went off from half past seven until one in the morning. On Thursday it went off from half nine at night until half ten on Friday night..

Vodafone has been down where I live since Wednesday so, no texting or calling for me!

There have been a few main things I have craved while the electricty was off :- a nice, warm cup of tea, hot food, facebook, phone signal, straightners and hair dryer (the electricity went off when I was in the shower, believe it or not!), good enough light to paint my nails and finaly internet access to do a blog post!

Oh well, I'm back now! But if in the next couple of days I do disappear for a few days thats why, I'm NOT abandoning you! <3

Heres the news warning on the storm, http://www.hebrides-news.com/storm-severe-weather-3211.html

Okay, so there I was watching Meganheartsmakup on Youtube when I catch sight of her nails. At first, second and third glance I was sure that it was the NYC Prince's Street that I rave about but when the video continued it turned out to be none other than MAC Violet Fire.

MAC Violet Fire retails for around £9.00 whereas NYC In A New York Colour Minute Prince's Street goes for more like £1.99 - £2.99!

NOTD - Nails Of The Day

30 January 2011

Today my nails are a goooooorgous petrol purple! This colour is brand new to my collection and I am in love with it. Its so pretty yet, it has a edgier side to it..

NYC In A New York Color Minute in Prince's Street is what i'm talking about girlies! Even better is it retails for around £2.99! SCORE!

I did three coats, no top coat, and for a base I used OPI Nail Envy Matte, but to be honest just use any old base coat!

In the bottle it is a deep purple, on the nail it is a medium toned purple, and in the sun it is a purple - with bluey undertones and a wee bit of a shimmer from the metallicy finish.

Without further ado.. Here she is!

Gorgous Colour, Love it! <3

New Nails!

30 January 2011

So yesterday, when my mam returned from work she had brought me to things. Two nail varnish's. If you saw my wishlist you'll see that alot of the colours on there are from the NYC In A New York Color Minute range. Well, both the colours she bought me where from that range!

One was a replacement for Pier 17 that I had and which was my favorite colour ever since I bought it just a couple of weeks ago, however yesterday when I opened my makeup bag (yes, I kept in in my makeup bag so if ever I felt the need for a bit of blue it was there!) I saw that it had leaked.. It hadn't damaged any of my makeup but the bottle was pretty empty. As you can guess I was pretty gutted. Anywayss, I told my mam not expecting an instant replacement but she came home with one and more!

The next colour was NYC In A New York Color Minute in Prince Street. Its such a preeeetty colour. In a wierd way it kind of reminds me of petrol, in the best possible way of course! Its a medium shade of purple when you look at it but when the light hits it, it has bluey undertones and i'm pretty sure I saw a bit of a shimmer in it. I LOVE THIS COLOUR!

I think i'm going to try collecting the whole collecting of NYC In A New York Colour Minute as I simply LOVE the colours they have, the quality is good and the names are the cutest!

Ahh, you gotta love the mother don't you?!
